On Saturday, Feb.18th 2012, at the Courtyard Marriott in Marina Del Rey, L.A. Bariatrics and Marina Del Rey Hospital will host the eighth annual Patient Celebration brunch where one hundred bariatric patients who  have achieved their weight loss goal will be honored for their achievement.

The Patient Celebration event at Marian Del Rey Hospital started back in 2005 and has taken place every year since. More than 500 L.A. Bariatrics patients have already celebrated their victory over obesity during this event. One hundred more will do so in less than two weeks! If you add up all the patients that have attended, their combined weight loss as reached nearly 50,000 pounds!

Losing weight is a great accomplishment for those who have been obese for much of their lives. The entire hospital’s staff is proud of these patients and also eager to celebrate their victory with them. This staff has been  truly inspired and are happy to  see these patients getting their lives back and leading healthy, fulfilling lives.

At Marina Del Rey hospital, we work very attentively with each patient; we sit with them at the beginning of their weight loss journey and help them to set their weight loss goals as part of the pre-op education process. As a starting point, our team usually uses a benchmark of losing fifty percent of the bariatric patient’s excess weight. Later this goal is adjusted depending on several things like the patient’s age, overall health condition, the patient’s personal weight loss goals and of course the starting weight.

The Patient Celebration is planned to honor those patients of ours who have reached and maintained their goal weight.

The Courtyard Marriott hotel is at 13480 Maxella Ave., Marina Del Rey, CA 90292. The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m. Parking is free.
